I often hear this story, and it’s always frustrating. I’m out with friends, discussing the latest news in the VR community. Most of the table is eager to chat with me. Let’s face it. Meta, formerly known as Facebook, released the Meta Quest 2 in October 2020. While I have my qualms about Meta, this HMD has changed how millions of people interact with virtual reality. High-end headsets like HTC Vive have equally high prices and aren’t as accessible to casual users. Now, everything has changed. With the Quest 2, you get a device with superior power to most other headsets, and it remains relatively affordable at US $399.

Since the headset’s release, it is rumored to have sold upward of five million units. It doesn’t seem like a lot when you compare the number to popular gaming consoles like Playstation, but it’s a massive milestone in the VR community. What sets the Meta Quest 2 apart is that it’s a standalone model. No more worry about getting tangled up in a power cord during playtime. All you have to do is hop into the HMD, sit back, and relax while you explore the mysterious porn metaverse.

A Lightweight Option to the Original

Alright, let’s get down to the good stuff. The substance. The backbone of this magnificent machine. The Meta Quest 2 is slightly lighter at just over 1 lb compared to the original Quest. A common complaint about the original was that it was too heavy to have sitting on your face for extended periods. To alleviate any issues you have in this respect with the Quest 2, you can opt to purchase the Elite strap. I personally had three of them break on me with regular usage, so I recommend the third-party BoboVR M2 halo strap, which hasn’t let me down yet.

Take Advantage of VR Hand Tracking

The controllers for the Quest 2 look similar to the original Quest, and outside of the color difference, they’re larger and more robust. This means no more accidental openings of the battery cartridge too. But what’s really cool is that this headset has hand-tracking capabilities. You just need to adjust your settings and then move your hands in front of the camera sensors. The headset will pick up your movement and you can browse simply and easily with simple hand gestures. You may find this doesn’t work with every app, but the software gets regular updates and I imagine we’ll see this function become more advanced with time.

Get a Hard-On For This Hardware

If you’re a geek like me, you love nerding out on new hardware specs. When I pre-ordered my own Quest 2, the month-long wait was almost torture. The headset uses a Snapdragon 865 processor. Considering this kind of chip is sold in $1,000 or more smartphones, the HMD is the least expensive device using the updated technology. You’ll find 6GB of RAM inside this little beast of a machine, but there aren’t any expandable storage options. When it first launched, the Quest 2 offered a smaller 64GB version, but it’s since been discontinued, and now Meta offers 128GB and 256GB models.

The original Quest was the best in class for a year until Quest 2 hit the scene. Previously, you could expect a 1600x1440 pixel picture per eye. With the new improvements, you see in a crystal clear 1920x1832. At launch, the headset had a refresh rate of 72Hz, but since then, both 90Hz and 120Hz options have been added. Now, these specs are most important if you’re gaming inside of 6DoF virtual worlds, but if you have a slower internet connection, use the 72Hz to get the maximum quality from your 8K porn videos.

Extend Battery Life With a Link Cable

As with any standalone VR headset, battery life always leaves something to be desired. Similar to your smartphone, the more you use it, the more battery you drain. It takes approximately two hours to charge the Quest 2 fully, and sadly, you only get about two to three hours of playtime per charge. Unless you’re going on a porn binge (hey, I don’t judge), you’ll likely be fine. But you can use the Oculus Link cable if that binge is spilling over the 3-hour mark. This powerful wire allows you to charge while you’re using the HMD or you can plug it directly into your PC and play downloaded content from there. You can also purchase an add-on battery pack.

Where to Watch Porn on a Quest 2

There are hundreds of VR porn sites out there, offering a variety of video qualities and content libraries. Whatever tickles your pickle, you’ll find it virtually. Does Meta Rule the Metaverse?

With the re-branding of Oculus/Facebook, there was criticism from many VR influencers about how the company handles users’ digital data. Meta initially required users to have a valid Facebook account to gain access to as much data as possible. This setup turned off many tech-savvy people because it was honestly ridiculous for anyone to link their content and device to their social media. If your Facebook account, for any reason, was shut down, you would lose access to your headset, rendering it useless. So Meta listened and made changes.

As of August 2022, with the launch of Horizons, users could delink their FB account and swap it for a Meta account. Still, the company is notorious for being anti-porn. So I doubt we’ll see any porn apps in the Oculus store any time soon. Those in-house apps I mentioned earlier, like DeoVR, are your best bet to get the most out of your virtual reality porn adventure.
