If you’re new to VR, you might experience a little motion sickness. Thankfully, the more you use it, the more you get used to it. But there’s one thing that headset manufacturers still haven’t perfected – comfort. Wear a headset long enough and it starts to get a little uncomfortable. It might feel too tight, too loose, or like you’re getting too sweaty, but you can get yourself a few add-ons to make it a more enjoyable experience. They’re cheap, easy to use and go a long way in giving you some extra VR headset comfort.
Use VR Headstrap Mod for Oculus Quest
Let’s start with something for those of you who own an Oculus Quest. This foam pad makes it feel like you’ve got a pillow on your head. You can enjoy long gaming and VR porn sessions without feeling like you need to take a break. I tend to sweat a lot, so I appreciated the moisture-resistant leather. Overall, I felt it did a great job of relieving the pressure that’s sometimes caused by headsets and it was easy to install. They sell these foam pads in 10mm and 17mm thickness, depending on your preference – and they’re only $20!
Try the Elastic Band Headstrap
Something as simple as an elastic band headstrap can go a long way in making your VR viewing more comfortable. It’s only $10 on Amazon and while the specifications say it fits an Oculus Quest, you can actually use it for your other headsets too. It’s simple to instill and helps with long-term weight distribution. I can’t tell you how many times I felt like my headset was too loose, no matter how much I tried adjusting it. This nifty little elastic band is a lifesaver.
Get a Washable VR Face Pad
Sometimes, no matter how absorbant a face pad is, it still gets oily and dirty. Honestly, it’s a little gross and I’ve hesitated to try on someone else’s headset if it looked nasty. Luckily, you can buy a removable face pad that you can toss right into the washing machine. Made of 100% cotton, it’s lightweight, comfortable and installation only takes a few seconds thanks to a simple hook-and-strap system.
