In just a few short years, it’s been amazing to see how quickly VR technology has advanced. I’m constantly impressed. A few years ago, I would’ve never imagined that companies like Universal would be filing patents for virtual and augmented reality, or even that VR could be used for therapeutic purposes.
That being said, many of you might still be new to virtual reality. One question I get asked often is, “Paul, if I want to get started in VR, what headset should I buy?” My answer is immediately the Gear VR. Now, you need a Samsung phone to operate it, and yet I’d still recommend it to iPhone users. I’ll explain why shortly.
Enjoy This Affordable Headset
There are a few GearVR models, but all of them are relatively affordable. They range from $45 to $250. Which is peanuts in comparison to other devices like the Vive, Oculus or the PSVR. An Android phone is required, but if you don’t have one, you can often find cheap ones online with no SIM card. This is why I still recommend the Gear VR to iPhone users.
Get Started Quickly
This might be my favorite thing about the device. Setting it up is quick and easy. Unlike the big-name headsets that require an installation process and, at times, a complicated setup, all you need to do here is download the Oculus app on your Android phone, slip it into the Gear headset and BOOM! You’re ready to go. Now, on your first time using it, you may need to download some updates, but it should go quickly if you’re on a strong wifi connection.
Perfect for VR Porn
Ah, yes. The reason we’re all here. Porn. The Gear VR is perfect for it and here’s why. Getting the content on your headset is easier than on any other device. Unlike the iPhone, Android phones can download videos directly, which is great since pretty much all virtual porn sites have mobile interfaces. Just download the video of your choice, pop in your headset and it’s ready to watch almost immediately. With other headsets, the process is a little more involved.
An Easy-to-Use Interface
The interface is friendly, even if you’re a beginner. Aesthetically, it looks good, but it’s also simple to navigate. All of your downloads will be located in a convenient folder. When you want to watch something, just hover over the file and you’re good to go.
Take Advantage of the Gear VR
I kind of look at it like training. Once you nail the Gear VR, you’ll have a much easier time grasping the higher-end headsets like the Oculus and Vive. So when you’re ready to invest in one, you’ll get the hang of things quickly.
Honestly, I really do love this headset. From its lightweight design to its functional interface, it’s almost always my go-to device when I want to watch something quickly, without having to go through a side-loading process. Sure, graphically speaking, it may be inferior, but not to the point of ruining your experience. You’re still going to feel immersed and aroused watching that sexy porn star ride you in 3D.
